Even though you might feel like you understand your current application performance, you’ll likely be surprised at what your real “normal” response times are when you start measuring them.

If you’re responsible for rolling out new versions of software, obviously you will want to know what your typical end user experience is with the old version beforehand. The last thing you want to do is to roll out the latest and greatest version of any application, and have it be a worse performing edition than the previous one.

You will want to know what affect the new version could have on the infrastructure resources before rolling it out. Whether you are responsible for the back end applications or the front end delivery via something like Citrix, you will need a monitoring and diagnostics tool that not only has you examine performance within your test environment though also allows you to observe it within a pilot production sampling to ensure your application rollout is ready for prime time and optimal performance. Then, let the jumping begin!
